Ahh, the great debate – what kind of food do you feed your cat? how much SHOULD they be eating and which cat food is best?

Everyone has an opinion on the matter but the honest answer is that the vets and experts don’t really know. Not enough studies have been done to confirm one way or the other and some cats do better on one or the other (or a combination of both!). The truth is, do what is best for you and your cats. That being said, the one thing to consider is which one will control your cat’s weight better because an overweight cat is an unhealthy cat! That being said there are some pros and cons to each type of food that may help you to make a decision, for reference, in this post, wet food refers to canned or tinned food and dry is also known as biscuits (just to avoid confusion). Hopefully, this list will help you see one way or the other which food your cat will prefer and which could be better!

Whatever you decide, you need to make sure the food you give to your cats is high quality and meets all of their nutritional needs! Always read the labels (in the same way you would for kids) and make sure that they are as free from nasties and unnecessary processing as possible because this can lead to weight issues and diseases in the future for your cats. Ultimately you should make sure that you speak to a vet if you have any queries about your cat’s health and also if they are on medication, they will be able to give you advice on the best individual needs of your cat!
