Safety is important so I am about to get real for a second because ICE cards could literally save your life and here’s why.

It’s not nice to think about but accidents can happen and runners in particular, tend to be more at risk for road accidents. Whether it’s listening to music, unsafe crossings or even being forced to run without a footpath runners have to deal with it all, usually in rubbish weather conditions too.

Try as we might to stay safe, unfortunately, it is not always the case and to be honest, sometimes these things happen. The problem is; when we go out running you take the bare minimum, no keys, no wallet and sometimes not even a phone (because let’s be honest they are bulky and throw us off!) BUT this poses a problem. It means we don’t have any identification on our person or medical details that could be useful. Essentially, we become the John or Jane Doe that we see on medical dramas!

There is an easy fix that not many people know about and that is the ICE cards which are handy cards that contain your basic information, emergency contact information and any relevant medical history that can be shoved up a sleeve, or in a bra, or ideally a pocket so that essential emergency services have instant access to your medical information that could save your life.

They are so easy to make but many people just don’t bother so since it is important, I made some ICE cards free printables for you to use and stay safe out there.

Simply print them out, fill them in and either laminate them or cover in sellotape to waterproof (sweatproof) them and you are good to go.

I also decided to make a kid friendly ICE cards so that when you are out and about your child has all the relevant information they need if they get lost or you get separated that they can take to an adult to help you get reunited!

Hopefully, you’ll never need them but keep them on you and they will help to keep you and your family safe and maybe one day even save your life!
