Nowadays there are hundreds of commercial cleaners that can handle the stains and odours, however, if you are searching for a cost effective and homemade solution, you’ve come to the right place.

Removing pet stains and unpleasant smells can be child’s play, as long as you know how to make your own carpet cleaner. Be creative and forget about all the commercial products that often fail to be efficient or manage all types of stains.

Explore some new ways in which to make your home more welcoming place in a few simple steps. Pet owners know that they should take special care when cleaning the house because their lovely dogs or cats can always surprise them with a stain or with a nasty odour.

Now you do not need to bother about the condition of your carpet – just consider the following tips:

White Vinegar & Water

You may have heard that white vinegar has impressive properties when it comes to cleaning and the same goes for carpet cleaning. To get rid of the pet stains you need to mix fifty per cent of white vinegar and fifty per cent of water. Pour the solution into a spray bottle and apply to the affected areas of the carpet. Use a soft brush so that the mixture could easily penetrate the surface of the carpet. Take a paper towel and place it on to the surface of the carpet to absorb the solution. The stains will disappear quickly because the white vinegar neutralizes the ammonia in the urine.

Baking Soda Spray

In case you want to get rid of the nasty odours quickly, here is one great recipe that is inexpensive and easily prepared.

You Will Need:

  • White distilled vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons of baking soda
  • a cup of lukewarm water

The white vinegar will deal with the urine stains while the baking soda will effectively remove the unpleasant odours. You can use a spray bottle to apply the solution on to the carpet, or if your prefer you can also use a bowl to place the mixture directly.

Hydrogen  Peroxide Recipe

Hydrogen peroxide is excellent ingredient for DIY carpet cleaning and when it is combined with baking soda it does miracles with stains and odours.

You Will Need:

  • One cup of baking soda
  • ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide
  • a bowl and a teaspoon of dish liquid

The first thing to do is sprinkle the stains with some baking soda. Then, mix the hydrogen peroxide and the dish liquid and place the solution on the stain. Use a cloth to scrub the solution so that it can penetrates into the carpet fibres and leave it that way for up to 15 minutes.

Make your home atmosphere more welcoming by removing the pet stains and odours from your lovely carpets. Using the tips mentioned above will save you lots of money that you would have otherwise spent on commercial cleaners.
