So, this Sweet Orange hand and nail oil was an accidental concoction that I stumbled upon when I failed at making my first hand cream.
It turns out it is great cuticle oil and has really helped my dry hands – plus it smells great too!
This recipe is enough to make two cosmetic pots! and it has a shelf life of around 2-3 months! This would also make a great handmade pamper gift
Ingredients
1 and a half Tablespoons of Olive oil
1 Teaspoon of vanilla essence or essential oil
1 and a half Teaspoons of Sweet orange essential oil (lime is also great too)
2 Tablespoons of Vaseline
4 Tablespoons of coconut oil (not liquid form it needs to be semi-solid)
Method
Tip the olive oil, orange essential oil and vanilla into a mixing bowl and give it a little stir
Add the Vaseline and coconut oil
Use an electric whisk to blend the ingredients together quickly – don’t over do it it should be a creamy texture but not quite a liquid
*The more you whisk the more the coconut oil melts because of the temperature from the whisk*
Pour into your containers and put in the fridge to set *it will go rock hard in the fridge and that’s ok*
Once it has set Leave in a cool room (or near a window) to warm back to room temperature
Store in a cool place (not the fridge) to keep a thicker consistency
A little goes a long way 🙂
