Looks like snow, smells like peppermint…
Amy at The idea room was the inspiration behind this scrub and I adapted her recipe to make this the perfect winter themed gift or stocking filler (they go pretty cute in gift baskets too…)
Ingredients
- 200g Granulated Sugar
- 60g liquid coconut oil *this gives it the snowy texture – add more coconut for a runnier consistency*
- Re-purposed jar
- 8 drops of peppermint essential oil
Method
Melt the Coconut oil with a double boiler or in a saucepan on a low heat
(if your coconut oil is already a liquid you can skip this step)
Pour the coconut oil into the sugar and mix until all the sugar is covered.
When you have the perfect consistency add the essential oil (if you add more coconut oil it will smell more of coconut so you will have to add 1-2 drops more of essential oil)
The ingredient amounts above will give the look of fluffy snow! – if you prefer something less abrasive (or have sensitive skin) then add some more coconut oil.
Using a funnel, spoon into the jar
Then decorate the jar how you like.. I like to add a cutesy jar cover! – The ones I have (pictured) are these (affiliate link):

You can decorate your jars however you like include: bows, ribbons or even decorating the glass. You could try using chalkboard paint to create a silouette effect! – for more chalkboard paint inspiration checkout my other post “10 Projects for leftover chalkboard paint”

Free Gift Labels
More importantly add a gift label with ingredients (in case of allergies and because some people like to know what they are putting on their bodies – weirdos) or you can write on the underside of the lid cover 🙂 If you are pressed for time I have done some cute winter themed gift labels just for you 🙂
