The 12 days of fitmas badgeChristmas is a time for eating, drinking and being merry but if I don’t do something (anything) fitness-wise I feel really sluggish and regret it when the new year comes!

I know 10 star jumps are not the equivalent to the massive piece of cake I’m having for pudding BUT it’s better than nothing!

So I have come up with “The 12 Days of Fitmas” to justify the copious amounts of food and drink I will be consuming this holiday! This series will run alongside (you guessed it) the 12 days of Christmas and starts 25th December – 5th January and it gives you the perfect excuse to get a head start on your new year’s resolutions.

I do this every year since I created it in 2015 so all of the days are linked below. Feel free to do a different fitmas day if you prefer or if you are feeling fantastic, do a couple at a time.

Feel free to grab my badge during the series to put on your blog if you’re taking part or tag @themummytoolbox on TwitterFacebook or Instagram with the Hashtag #12daysoffitmas and I will retweet, share or take a look at your fab fitmas pictures.

  1. Hi Charlotte, I think this is such a great idea! I saw lots of your tweets over Christmas and was so inspired. I would have joined in if it hadnt been for awful morning sickness in this pregnancy too!

    • Thanks lovely – take it easy, you have an excuse, you’re pregnant! plus I know exactly how bad morning sickness can be, I had it for 2 trimesters! glad you were inspired though 🙂 xx

  2. Great idea! I hate that post-Christmas ‘I’ve over-eaten’ feeling. I can’t promise to take part as we’re moving house between now and new year but I’m sure we’ll be getting lots of exercise in by unpacking boxes 🙂 #KCACOLS

    • Wow you’re braver than me! hopefully it’s not too stressful and definitely a good workout 🙂 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – Thanks for commenting xx

  3. I was hoping you had something to kick off with right now. With the amount of chocolate, cake and xmas lunches out at work at the moment I am already feeling sluggish! However I popped over to your netball section instead to get some tips 🙂 Snapped my Achilles whilst playing in a league match on court last year and still not back playing – been told I can’t again but we shall wait and see. Have a good Xmas #KCACOLS

  4. Ohh this is a great idea. I will pop over again to check out the workouts but don’t think I can commit to doing any exercise on Christmas day..that is very much a day for eating! Good luck xx #KCACOLS

    • Haha let me know how you get on :p I will be working out in between stuffing my face and drinking so hopefully I don’t start too early :p xx

  5. A good plan! When I used to work out, I would keep it up over Christmas, but now don’t even do it at the best of times! Happy Christmas! #justanotherlinky

  6. This a great idea!! I’m in real need of loosing some weight and during Xmas and New Year is certainly the most difficult time of the year. I don’t think I will be starting now as I would like to enjoy and be relaxed during the holidays but I will definitely start a proper routine in January. More exercise together with a healthy eating!! Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. I’m so happy to have you as my last guest co-host of 2015. Merry Xmas to you and your family and Happy New Year 2016. I hope to see you in the New Year! 🙂 xx

  7. Hi Charlotte, starting twelve days of fitmas on Christmas day is a good idea. I do take a step back from working out over Christmas, I don’t stop, I just enjoy a bit of a slow down, but look forward to revving it back up in the New Year (or so I keep telling myself!).

Wishing you a happy and fitmassy Christmas!

    xx

  8. This is a great idea! I’m really into fitness at the moment and so i’m always looking for new challenges. I will be keeping up with this one (as best I can!!) 🙂

    #KCACOLS

    • Keep me posted with how you get on! I am really looking forward to Christmas but this shouldnt get in the way – I’m thinking of it as a gift to myself :p xx

  9. This is a great idea, and I’d like to say I’ll be taking part but I am far too lazy to be honest!! Though my Christmas eating has already started so maybe I will feel differently when I can’t do my jeans up…. Becky x #KCACOLS

    • Haha loving the honesty :p well if you change your mind you have 12 days (although a bit of insider scoop the earlier days are easier – after the new year it ramps up ;p) Have a great Christmas, thanks for commenting xx

  10. Great idea! And very welcomed.
We’re a family of runners, and both our younglings have just started joining us on mini-runs around the streets. You’re right, nothing is quite going to counteract the calorific overload of this month, but just spending 20 mins darting around feels like something!
    #KCACOLS

    • aww that’s so lovely – we have been getting the children involved in parkrun which is exciting! running is my favourite but I can’t justify the hours over Christmas :p merry Christmas xx thanks for commenting

  11. This is an absolutely BRILLIANT idea. I’ll definitely be checking out all of these. I’ve done so well this year and have still a little way to go before I have the body I want, but I’m getting there. This is so helpful. Thank you! xxx #KCACOLS

    • Well done! I will enjoy sharing this part of your journey with you 🙂 Keep me posted how you get on ! have a great Christmas and thanks for commenting xx

  12. Great idea! I’ve been struggling to get back on slimming world since the summer. I’ve given up for Xmas but hoping to begin again in the new year. This would be great to go with it! #KCACOLS

    • definitely 🙂 you can always catch up in the new year – let me know how you get on 🙂 Have a great Christmas and thanks for commenting xx

  13. This is such a great idea I am desperate to get a bit fitter but I had a C Section 3 weeks ago and I am guessing I’ll need to wait another 6 weeks before I can get going again! Will definitely be referring back to this. Xxx #KCACOLS

    • yes definitely take it easy! but you can always do it afterwards to catchup :p haha look at me being pushy! Thanks for commenting! Have a great Christmas and congrats on the Bubba xx

    • Yes! we are planning a boxing day run too! going to get a sneaky parkrun in before carrying on the festivities. Thanks for commenting, merry Christmas xx

  14. Good for you. You are a braver woman than I. I know I ought to do more but committing to something everyday over Christmas. I’m just not sure I have the stamina or time in the schedule. Mine will be a mix of running around after a toddler and lift glass to mouth, tip, release. Lower arm. #kcacols

  15. What a great idea! I tend to start a fitness program the first Monday after New Years – wine hangovers and exercise don’t mix well for me lol 🙂 Thanks for hosting #KCACOLS
    Debbie

  16. Good luck with your 12 days of fitness, I hope you feel even more better after the holidays than you do before! I know for a fact I’ll be needing something like this after my family Christams, haha!

  17. I am the worlds worst woman when it comes to fitness and looking after myself, but do you know what, I may well come back and have a nosey! I am in a place right now where I want to make lots of little adjustments to my way of life, this may be a good place to start! Great idea! And thanks for co-hosting #KCACOLS this week 🙂 xx

  18. Sounds like a great idea. I think we will all be feeling the need to get healthy and fitter come January. I’m glad you are making this positive plan.
    Amanda. #KCACOLS
