1,2,3 Banana & Honey Smoothie - The Mummy Toolbox

The husband is REALLY into smoothies at the moment and this was something he happened across while trying to find a new flavour!

I’ve called it the 1…2…3… smoothie because it has 3 ingredients and is ready in three steps

This recipe uses frozen bananas because using frozen fruit allows you to get the same coldness without watering down with ice! Maximising the smoothie-ness!

    Top Tip

To Freeze bananas and stop them from sticking together in balls (not great for putting in the blender) chop them into slices and place between baking sheets in a freezable box. No muss, no fuss!

if you would rather use fresh bananas then add a couple of chips of ice and some more bananas to stop it from being watered down (or you could add more milk if it gets too thick)

    Super Simple Recipe

    Ingredients

3 ingredients in Banana & Honey Smoothie

300ml Whole Milk – You can substitute with semi skimmed to make it even healthier

    60g Frozen Bananas

    3 Tsp Honey

    *Serves two*

    Method

Blend the bananas and milk until smooth (it should be smooth but thick, if it is too watery then add more bananas – too thick add more milk)

Blend together the banana & Milk

Add a Tsp honey and blend again (do not add it at the beginning altogether at first – because it sticks and won’t blend)

Pour and drizzle honey over the top to serve

    Easy as 1…2…3…

My husband and I went through a phase of making smoothies and we also liked to freeze the fruit too so that it was nice and cold. I’m
not a fan of bananas myself but I think my boys would enjoy this!

Hi Charlotte, we love banana smoothies too and I can buy over ripe bananas quite cheap and they are perfect for freezing. I just cut them in half and pop them in a freezer bag, if I sliced them first I’d probably end up with a freezer full of banana slices (don’t ask!).

For a variation I add frozen mixed berries and a sprinkle of cinnamon. The berries dd a nice tartness, but don’t use too many.

This looks really delicious, we have cut out processed sugar from our diets so I would have to have this without the honey but I think coconut oil might be a nice alternative. I never thought I would see the day where I didn’t crave sweet things as I have always had a really sweet tooth but the weight loss has been a huge incentive to keep going and I feel much healthier for it too.

Of course the recipe sounds delish…will add to my smoothie repertoire. But…the best thing is drinking a smoothie from a martini glass! Love that. Everything tastes better from a fancy glass.
