Combining two of the husband’s favourite flavours, this banana and honey smoothie is easy, delicious and was a complete accident!

The husband is REALLY into smoothies at the moment and this was something he happened across while trying to find a new flavour. He had a sore throat and was making a banana smoothie and thought to combine the two, and turns out it is delicious. Even the toddler likes it! I’ve named it the 1…2…3… smoothie because it has 3 ingredients and is ready in three steps. So it is probably my most simple smoothie recipe!

This recipe uses frozen bananas because using frozen fruit allows you to get the same coldness without watering down with ice! Maximizing the smoothie delicious-ness!

Top Tip

To Freeze bananas and stop them from sticking together in balls (not great for putting in the blender) chop them into slices and place between baking sheets in a freezable box. No muss, no fuss!

if you would rather use fresh bananas then add a couple of chips of ice and some more bananas to stop it from being watered down (or you could add more milk if it gets too thick)

Super Simple Recipe

Ingredients

3 ingredients in Banana & Honey Smoothie

300ml Whole Milk – You can substitute with semi skimmed to make it even healthier

60g Frozen Bananas

3 Tsp Honey

*Serves two*

Method

  1. Blend the bananas and milk until smooth (it should be smooth but thick, if it is too watery then add more bananas – too thick add more milk)
  2. Add a Tsp honey and blend again (do not add it at the beginning altogether at first – because it sticks and won’t blend)

  1. My husband and I went through a phase of making smoothies and we also liked to freeze the fruit too so that it was nice and cold. I’m
not a fan of bananas myself but I think my boys would enjoy this!

Thanks so much for linking up to #KCACOLS I hope to see you back again on Sunday x

  2. Hi Charlotte, we love banana smoothies too and I can buy over ripe bananas quite cheap and they are perfect for freezing. I just cut them in half and pop them in a freezer bag, if I sliced them first I’d probably end up with a freezer full of banana slices (don’t ask!).

For a variation I add frozen mixed berries and a sprinkle of cinnamon. The berries dd a nice tartness, but don’t use too many.

    xx

  3. You are speaking my language…banana and honey language. Those are the foundations of almost all of my smoothies, but would you believe that I haven’t had JUST a banana and honey smoothie? Love it! Oooooh, and I really love pouring the honey over the smoothie…brilliant!

  4. This looks really delicious, we have cut out processed sugar from our diets so I would have to have this without the honey but I think coconut oil might be a nice alternative. I never thought I would see the day where I didn’t crave sweet things as I have always had a really sweet tooth but the weight loss has been a huge incentive to keep going and I feel much healthier for it too.

  5. Oooh, that sounds yummy! We’re into smoothies in this house and typically make banana and strawberry ones as we have LOTS of strawberries in our freezer.
Good tip to add the honey later in the blending process!

  6. Of course the recipe sounds delish…will add to my smoothie repertoire. But…the best thing is drinking a smoothie from a martini glass! Love that. Everything tastes better from a fancy glass.
    Cheers!

  7. This looks so good! We drink smoothies for breakfast, but I have not used honey as a sweetener. I am going to try this in the morning with almond milk instead of skim because that is what I have here. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Also, thank you for sharing my roses from candy. I have been traveling and not able to use my phone. It thrilled me to see it on another site!

  8. Mmmh, smoothies are our favourite! I haven’t made one in a while actually! This one looks delicious! I’ve never tried with frozen bananas! Will definitely do so! Thanks Charlotte!

  9. My hubby is CRAZY about bananas and every food containing them. If I show him this he will want one immediately! Haha! I’ll be pinning this to surprise him with later. 😉

  10. What a yummy and oh so healthy recipe!!! I love honey and we have plenty of it. The price of bananas is a little steep down here but I’m sure we can do something about that! Great recipe Charlotte

  11. Mmm loving the sound of this! Did you know if you whizz up your frozen bananas on their own they make a fab quick ice cream? I added 10 grams cocoa and 5 grams stevia to mine yesterday for a quick 113 kcal chocolate ice cream!

    • ooo that’s such a fab idea! I didn’t know you could do that! does it work if you add other fruit to it or does it lose it’s consistency?
